Principle Advantage Government Relations Group has been proud to represent various clients on energy issues spanning solar, combined heat and power (CHP), and offshore wind energy since 2009. Recognizing both the economic and environmental benefits not only to the region, but the entire Commonwealth early one, we have garnered several impassioned efforts to bring offshore wind energy to the Hampton Roads Region. We established the first offshore wind trade organization, Virginia Offshore Wind Coalition (VOWC), in 2010 when the dream of bringing offshore wind energy to Virginia was in its infancy. Our team successfully promoted and shepherded the legislation that established the Virginia Offshore Wind Development Authority (VOWDA) serving as VOWC’s governmental affairs firm and providing staff management assets to serve as Executive Director of the coalition in its early days. Principle Advantage was also the first to develop, coordinate and execute a Virginia offshore wind conference in 2009 with speakers from the business community, local governments, and state and federal agencies. In 2011, Principle Advantage worked closely with the Sierra Club to develop, coordinate and execute Virginia’s second ever and very successful offshore wind conference with the focus on the economic development possibilities.
Our Commonwealth has faced many challenges in this pandemic year, but one of the brightest highlights is the growth and opportunities in the budding wind energy space. On September 9th, 2020 the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce hosted a very informative webinar titled - Offshore Wind Energy in the 757 with key Virginia administration, legislative and industry stakeholders. We invite you to view the presentation and join us as an ambassador for #offshorewindenergyinthe757.
